New release : 2021 1oz Great Britain The Great Engravers Collection : Una And The Lion .9999 Silver Bar
BUT... the bigger 10oz bar comes with a slight whitish haze, as if some toning has set in. This is apparent on both sides of the coin and occurs mainly near the edges and on the mirrored surface background.
However this is the same pattern on every single bar so it is probably something to do with the polishing of the minting dies or the finishing process.
Another problem is the top edge of the bar is jutting out just a millimeter or so too much so it is not possible to close the bar capsule completely. Whilst the top cover still stays on, it is not as airtight as it could be so future toning could be accelerated somewhat.
This poor quality minting continues to come out of The Royal Mint unfortunately. Even their new Brittanias come with milkspots on some coins. However this is not limited to just Royal Mint, it used to be a problem with Royal Canadian Mint and even our own Perth and Royal Australian Mints.
It does affect the awesomeness of the bar. But these bars are after all bullion bars and not PROOF bars so we can't really complain that much.
The 1oz version however is of much higher quality. There is no hazing on the mirror surfaces. Though on very close inspection their is a slight mark as if someone accidentally caused a papercut in the surface of the back of it. Once again this occurs in every single 1oz coin minted in the pack of 20 I got so fair to say, its probably another minting defect.
